Today, I finished putting all the information on my poster. I finished my log book and got everything I needed together. I am going to bring it in tomorrow.

Today, I finished working on my diagram. I also made the bar graph out of the information that I had from when I did the experiments.

May 11, 2010

Today, I made a diagram of what my project looks like. I used a software called omnigraffle. I made it by taking different shapes and the coloring them so that you can see an actual picture of my project. My dad helped me get it started and then I had it working perfectly fine. I think it looks great.

Today I did some experiments on my project. I figured out how many paper clips the bolt could pick up depending on how many times the wire was wrapped around. I wrapped the wire around first 10 times, then 20 times, next 30 times, and finally, 40 times. I learned that the more times the wire is wrapped around the bolt, the more paper clips it picks up. Then I transferred my information into a bar graph by using an Excel spreadsheet.

April 28,2010

Today I did the 10 facts. I wrote some about electromagnets and some about what they are used in.

April 27,2010

Today I wrote out my bibliography. I used the sheet I got from Miss. Elliott. I included all the information I used for my project.

April 25,2010

Today, I planned out the rest of my project. I used a software called "Freemind." It helped me organize my project by making a mind-map, which is a visual outline of my project. It helps you know what is done and what has to be done.

April 23,2010

Today, I made a rough draft of what my poster is going to look like. It has headings and I am going to add a bar graph. I read about my topic in some books I got from the library:
  1. The New Book of Popular Science,
  2. Magnets to Generators,
  3. Electricity and Magnetism, and
  4. Sure to Win Science Fair Projects.
. I also went on the internet to find some things. I think that my poster looks really good.

April 18,2010

Today I built an electromagnetic crane.I first attached a crane-like structure to a board. Then I put a screw on the crane structure and then put a pulley on the screw. Next I twisted a piece of string and two wires together. Then my dad helped cut off a piece of tube with a saw. Then I wrapped a piece of copper wire around it. Then I put a nail inside of the tube with the copper wire wrapped around it. Then on the ends of the two pieces of wire I put alligator clips. Then I attached a battery to the board. I also attached a on and off switch. I attached the alligator clips to the battery and the on and off switch. Finally I put some paper clips under the nail. Now when you turn the switch on the nail can pick up the paper clips. I think that it looks really good.

Apil 10, 2010

Today, I went to Lowes to get supplies for my project. I also made a model of what I think my project is going to be. I tested my project to see whether it would work. I am going to plan out the details of the actual project.

April 8, 2010

Today I created a blog on my project with my dad. I transfered my notes from the things I already wrote down onto the blog. I read two projects on electromagnets and I decided I would combine them together.

This is the plan that I made for how I am going to do my project:
1. I will design my plan by drawing a picture.
2. I will get all the pieces I need for the project together.
3. I will follow the step by step plan.
4. I will test whether my electromagnet works.
5. I will design my poster and set up my project.

April 5, 2010

Today I went to the library and found some books on my topic. On some of the pages in one book I found some information on electromagnets. I found a project to do on electromagnets. I read some more about electromagnets.

Today I talked about my science project with my parents.I thought about doing electricity or magnets. I went to the library with my mom where I found some books on science projects. I looked through the books when I got home. Then I found a project on electromagnets. I decided to do electromagnets for my science project. I think it will be fun.
